The founding of the monastery of the Intercession of the Mother of God.

In 1881, Grand Duchess Alexandra Romanova chose a place in Kiev to found the Monastery of the Intercession of the Mother of God. This place was found on the border of the Upper Town and Podil, on the top of the picturesque Kudryavets Mountain, near the Glybochitsa River.
