1. Fiber optic monitoring
Optical detection technology covers the entire escalator apron. When an obstacle between the apron and the steps is detected, it immediately stops the escalator.

The chainless design eliminates the risk of circuit failure by setting a new level of equipment reliability. Moving the drive beyond a stepped moving web means easier, safer and faster maintenance and minimal downtime.

An alarm warns passengers that they have entered an escalator or passenger conveyor from the wrong side.

In addition, providing the highest level of passenger safety and comfort, it also facilitates access during maintenance, as most procedures can be performed without disassembling the steps.

Being up to 8% more energy efficient than traditional friction handrail drives, KONE direct drive is also highly reliable and durable - which leads to lower maintenance and operating costs and extends the life of the handrail.
